Hi new players!
Welcome to Dragon Village 2. First thing you should know about the game is that it is made by a Korean company highbrow, inc. Originally, the game was intended for Korean players but as more and more players around the world discover it, they expanded.
Important: There are two servers in this game: Dersa (Asia) and Decon (US). This is important to know because most events in the game are time-based esp. the World Raids. Sometimes I hear players complain about not being able to participate in the raids because it happens at really late times in their country. The standard time for the game is set as KRT (Korean time). Should you need to check the time conversion between your country and South Korea, you can do it here.
Now that you know that, let's go to the game.
The game has its own built-in tutorial. It covers the basics of the game like hatching a dragon, raising a good dragon, putting in items, etc. That's fine. Easy to follow. But it's not enough. The game has more features than that. Well, the most important thing is: raise strong dragons and become the best dragon tamer in the world!
Contents:
1. Currency
2. Leveling Up
3. Equipping
____________________________
1. Currency
The game has two currencies: gold and diamond. You can use the gold to buy items in the shop and auction and upgrade items. You can also use gold in the Training to level up your dragons faster. The diamond can be used in many ways like buying special items, fast tracking some features like hatching eggs, merging scrolls to create special dragons, and level reset.
To collect gold, you can get them by defeating monsters in the dungeons, visiting and touching objects (fountain, boxes, flying dragon Aeuros) in the Elpis Village, doing raids, selling items in Auction, or buying them with diamonds (not practical). On the other hand, you can get diamonds in many ways, please visit this link. If you have played DV1, you will find that DV2 is the exact opposite. It is easier to collect diamond in DV2 than gold.
(Note: Some players refer to diamonds as gems. Please don't do that because the game also has items called "gems" that can be equpped to dragons to boost their stats.)
2. Leveling Up
There are many ways to level up dragons. One is to explore the dungeons. To level up faster, choose an area that has higher level than your dragon. Alternatively, you can use the Training menu to level up your dragon using diamonds/gold. The third method is by using blessing items: Dragon's blessing, Maia's Blessing, Dersa's Blessing, or Amorrus Blessing.
However, the goal in this game is not to level up fast. The goal is to raise a "strong" dragon. When you start playing, you would notice that when a dragon hatches, it has a number attached to it. That is the rating. A rating tells you how far or how close the dragon is to its full strength. The standard rating is "7.0." Once a dragon levels up and it does not get full stats (HP/ATK/DEF), the rating drops based on the following measure:
1 HP = 0.025 rating
1 ATK = 0.1 rating
1 DEF = 0.1 rating
In order to train strong dragons, you can find most of the things you need here.
3. Equipping
Equipping your dragons will make them stronger. There are three things you can give to a dragon: gem, item, and skill. The gems and items are introduced in the tutorial. However, one thing the game will not tell you and you will see later on when you battle in the colosseum is the hybrid gem. They are gems that has more than 1 stat buff. To learn how to create them, you can visit this page.
There are many different kinds of items in this game. They boost the dragon's abilities. There are 6 basic types: claws (boost critical rate), charm (chance to revive dragon when it dies), feather (increase evade rate), obsidian (increase critical attack), platinum (stimulate attack chance), and cat's eye (add defense piercing damage). To guide you a bit, the best items to equip a defense type dragon is feather esp. if you're going to use it as tank in 3v3 battles and raids. Cat's eyes are more useful than obsidian and claw because it does what it says it does: it adds a damage that can't be reduced by the defender's DEF. (It can be blocked though.) Charm and platinums are kind of useless (IMO). You should also know that items (aka ornaments) boost a dragon's stats (hp, atk, def, blk, exp, gold.) Ignore ornaments with exp and gold options. They are useless. There are also different types: Normal (no option), Magic (1 option), Rare (2), Unique (3), and epic (4). Items can be made stronger by upgrading them. Sometimes, if you are lucky in upgrading, your item can have additional options (e.g., unique item can have 4 options). It happens more often on epic items though.
For skills, they are very important in battles. For more information, you may visit this blog entry.
Alright, I guess I've told you the basics. Let's end this here for now. Good luck and welcome again to the game.

ReplyDeleteWhere is the dungeon located
ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for the guide! I had a question about leveling. If a dragon's rating goes down after a level-up am I supposed to spend 2 gems to try again? I've actually tried this a few times and ended up with the same result, so I'm still confused.
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance for the help!
your rate/grade will go down with you not getting max stats for expl:
Deletelets say you can have 12hp 5atk and 2def in one level up
if you go to sky nest of do adventures you can not get that full stat amount for expl: you got hp:10/12 atk:3/5 and def:1/2 that will make you lose grade.when you get a max that just makes you not loose grade.
